E-mail Set-up: Part 2




6.0 Setup e-mail address

  • Name field -Type in the Name which will displayed in e-mails
    eg: Mary brown
  • Organization field: Type the name of your Company
    eg:Arakhne Web Design
  • E-mail address: Type yourname@yourChoosen Domain Name or Hosting account
    eg: marybrown@arakhnewebdesign.com
  • Reply Address: Type the same username as above
    eg: marybrown@arakhnewebdesign.com

    Example of e-mail address with different Domain Extensions.

    A)


    E-mail address: you own a Business Domain
  • B)


    E-mail address: using a Web Server Domain

NB: you can use .com or .net or .com.au etc etc depending what your Hosting Provider has given you.


7.0 Click on Servers

 


8.0: Fill in Pop3/SMPT, Username and Password



Pop3: mail. same extension as your e-mail address eg mail.bigpond.com

SMPT:
mail.same extension as your e-mail address eg mail.bigpond.com

USERNAME: provided by Server Provider eg marybrown

PASSWORD:Provided by Server Provider eg wbjh5fnd

9.0 Click Apply and then OK.

10.0 Close Outlook Express and reopen and click Send and recieve to check for any new mail.

YOUR FINISHED !

We suggest that you send a e-mail to yourself to see of the settings are correct.

SEND E-MAIL - Test your settings

1) Create Mail at top of the page

2) In the TO: bar - type in your own e-mail address eg marybrown@bigpond.com

3) Compose a message in the Main Body ( big white space below where you typed the e-mail address )

4) Type in the SUBJECT box: test e-mail

5) Click on SEND and RECEIVE button at the Top of the page...the message will now send out.

6) Wait 30 secounds or so

7) Click on SEND and RECEIVE button at the Top of the page...the message will now come into your In Box.

If you can send and receive a e-mail message then the settings are correct.

If it fails to send:

1) Check the settings again carefully. Make sure you have your username and password correct for the e-mail account provided by your e-mail server provider.

2) Make sure you are logged onto the internet.
